About bebonsai

bebonsai is an independent bonsai guide for beginners. We explain step by step how to keep your first little tree healthy and enjoy it more over time. And we do it in eight languages, so as many people as possible can get off to a good start.

Who is bebonsai for?

For everyone who has just been given a bonsai, bought one, or simply feels like trying. You don't need any prior knowledge. We write in short, clear sentences and explain technical terms as soon as they come up. If you've been at it for a while, you may still find a helpful reminder of the basics here.

How our content is made

Every text starts with research. We read many sources, including Japanese ones, because bonsai has a long tradition in Japan. Where sources disagree, we stick to the safe common ground or leave a detail out. Then we write everything in our own words, as clearly as we would explain it to a friend. Every text is checked again before it is published.

The bonsai finder with Master Matsu

Not every tree suits every home. In the bonsai finder, Master Matsu asks you a few simple questions, for example about your space and your time. At the end you get suggestions for trees that suit you.

Independent and transparent

bebonsai is independent. Some links on our site are marked as Amazon links. If you buy something through them, we may earn a small commission. It does not change the price for you. Our recommendations are not paid placements: we only recommend what we genuinely find useful for beginners.
